The Estate
Aside from the commercial enterprises such as the Terrace Café, there are many activities that are carried out ‘behind the scenes’.
Some, like the installation of a biomass boiler and windfarm, are to improve the longevity of the estate and surrounding environment. The conservation activities of the farmers and gamekeepers look to protect native species such as the red squirrel and black grouse. The Estate is also a vital player in the local community – a fact that is quite often forgotten. It directly employees 170 staff, provides 250 affordable houses and makes available land and buildings for community uses and activities. Roxburghe Estates family heritage and its long term investment in the management of the Estate aims to safeguard its future for generations to come.
