Set in 200 acres of parkland, the Roxburghe Golf Course,  in the heart of the Scottish Borders is the region’s first Championship Golf Course.

Dave Thomas, internationally renowned golf course architect and former Ryder Cup star was appointed by the Duke of Roxburghe in March 1995. His brief was to create a golf course of the highest quality using existing natural features of the site to maximum effect. He completed the course in record time , by October 1995, and what you will now as a golfer is a wonderful course on a fabulous piece of land, a manageable test and a visual treat. The course bears all the unique hallmarks of Dave Thomas, numerous challenging bunkers, mature woodland to define fairways, dramatic water hazards and generous rolling greens.

The wide fairways of the Roxburghe follow the natural contours of the landscape, making full use of the many changes in levels.  The signature hole is the “viaduct”, with its elevated tee commanding superb views over the River Teviot which hugs the left of the fairway with an imposing viaduct across the horizon.

The heart of the Roxburghe course are the par threes, play these well and you will hopefully card a good score as three of them are around the 190 yards mark.

The course is Par 72, 7111 yards of the back tees and is open to play seven days a week to anyone with a handicap certificate. It is available on a pay as you play basis, to hotel residents, groups and societies.

The Golf Course in the winter continues to be in great condition. We do not use mats or winter tees, although we use frost holes in the event of a frost. For a daily update please call Craig or Steve at the Professional Shop on 01573 450 333.
