Many of us struggle with the lack of light and low temperatures of winter, but tradition gives us vital guidance on how restore the body and find deep value in these dark months. In this celebration of Winter, we will spend time in the Floors Walled Garden and surrounding woodland, observing how nature protects itself and uses this time to hibernate and heal.

This immersive, hands-on session will include:

  • Winter food traditions and recipes for dried, stored and fermented food.
  • How to nurture digestive health and boost the immune system throughout the cold months.
  • Celebrations of light in the darkest months across folklore, art and music.
  • Creating seasonal decorations and gifts from wild and natural materials.
  • Patterns and changes to observe in the garden, in nature, and in yourself.
  • Seasonally inspired mindfulness techniques.
  • A delicious lunch of homemade soup and sandwiches.

Although we might joke about the constant rain, Scotland is a place that still experiences distinct seasons. But with strawberries available in the supermarket all-year-round, fewer reasons to venture beyond our homes, and the option to jet-off to sunnier climes mid-winter, have the seasons become irrelevant?
