Floors Castle Apple and Wisteria Summer Pruning Skills Day

Event in 1 year

Floors Castle, Kelso, situated on the River Tweed and set in glorious Borders countryside, is Scotland’s largest inhabited house. Designed by William Adam and constructed in the 1720’s, its grounds and gardens are very fine, not least the four acre Walled Garden, which encompasses several outstanding herbaceous borders, a new Tapestry Garden, greenhouses, vegetables and fruit.

The Floors Head Gardener – Simon McManus – will instruct you on the theories of summer pruning and the varying styles within the garden before attendees have practical pruning sessions on different apple varieties as well as a chance to work on some wisteria also. You will be supported by the Gardens Team and have lots of opportunity to ask questions and learn new skills. The cost of the day will be £30. Tea, coffee and shortbread will be provided on arrival. Please bring a packed lunch and make sure you have weather appropriate clothing, gloves and footwear. Please bring your own secateurs and ensure they are clean and sharpen them  before you start.
