Sunflower Maze FAQs
Our Sunflower Maze will open on the 31st of July, it will be open 7 days a week 10am – 5pm until the flowering period is over. Entry to the Maze is FREE with a Day Ticket, Seasonal Grounds Pass or Annual Pass. Better still, every Day Ticket is valid for 7 consecutive days, so you can come back as often as you like during that week to enjoy the Maze, explore the Grounds and Gardens, and see how the sunflowers change and bloom.
Where is the Maze located?
The Maze is located very near our Walled Garden, Please park your vehicle in the visitor carpark and walk to the Maze from there, there will be signs to guide you to the Maze entrance from here. As the pedestrian route to the Maze crosses Estate roads, please take extra care when walking to and from the Maze. Children should be supervised at all times, and please remain aware of traffic.
Is the Maze Dog Friendly?
While we love welcoming four-legged visitors, the Sunflower Maze itself is sadly not dog friendly. However, dogs on leads are very welcome throughout the rest of the Grounds and Gardens, as well as in both of our Gift Shops (please note dogs are not permitted inside the Castle).
There is also plenty of outdoor seating and water points available at the Terrace Café, and dogs are welcome inside the Courtyard Café.
Can I pick the flowers?
We kindly ask that you don’t pick any sunflowers from the Maze. They’re there for everyone to enjoy, whether you’re taking in the view or snapping some photos.
If you’d like to take some home, freshly cut sunflowers will be available to purchase from the Garden Ticket Kiosk (subject to availability) for £5 per bunch of 6 stems or £1 per stem.
Can I take photos in the field?
Photos are more than welcome – we love seeing the memories you make! Feel free to share your photos on social media and don’t forget to tag us @FloorsCastle so we can enjoy them too.
Drones are only allowed with prior written consent – Please email [email protected]
Can I bring a picnic?
Absolutely! You’re welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy it at one of the picnic benches in the centre of the Maze – it’s the perfect place to relax amongst the sunflowers.
Please help us keep the estate looking its best by taking any litter home with you or using the bin at the Garden Ticket Kiosk.
If you’d rather leave the catering to us, you’ll also find plenty of delicious refreshments available from the Terrace Café, Apple Shed Pantry and Courtyard Café.
Accessibility
The Sunflower Maze is set within a working arable field, so the ground is naturally uneven and conditions will vary depending on the weather. We cannot guarantee that it will be suitable for all wheelchairs or mobility aids. Some visitors may find the paths easier to navigate than others, depending on the type of wheelchair or mobility aid being used and the ground conditions on the day.
As every visitor’s needs and mobility are different, we ask that you use your own judgement when deciding whether to enter the maze. Unfortunately, the maze may not be suitable for everyone.
